According to the statement ,Executive Director of HDAN, Festus Adebayo, said that The Affordable Housing Hall Of Fame Award induction will also hold on the same day with Africa housing awards in Dec.2022 and that voting will end on the 23rd of November, 2022 for the jurists to take over the platform for final annoucement
About Affordable Housing Hall of Fame , Adebayo said further that Affordable housing hall of fame is about identifying and honouring individuals who have contributed selflessly to the development of affordable housing for Nigerians.
“The housing sector is recognized globally as a critical component in world trade and a gateway to the economy of coastal countries, including Nigeria. Nigeria is not the only country to celebrate and honour housing icons, countries like the USA, UK, Singapore, Malaysia had at various times celebrated their heroes of affordable housing.
“Despite the strategic importance of housing, which provides shelter and employment for thousands of Nigerians, individuals’ efforts to develop this sector, thereby boosting the nation’s economy, should be adequately recognised and celebrated.”
He went on to say that the award aims to serve as a catalyst for the sector’s continued development by recognising the most unseen but incredible work being done by stakeholders; to highlight innovations and achievements in the field; and to raise awareness and shine a spotlight on important issues that do not always get the attention they deserve, thereby encouraging further improvement.
According to him, nominees must possess an excellent record of low-cost housing delivery of not less than 200 units of houses with a credible source of financing and transparent distribution process to beneficiaries.
“Such individuals must have succeeded in championing and promoting low-cost housing, most especially for low-income earners in their states, local governments, or both within the last 10 years”, he added.
Adebayo stated that the general public and housing stakeholders can now log on to www.africahousingawards.com to vote deserving individuals for the Africa housing awards via already established official website www.africahousingawards.com
