The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) has formally submitted the proposed Builders Registration Act CAP B13 LFN 2004 Amendment Bill to the Federal House of Representatives.
In the event that was held on Tuesday, the CORBON Chairman – Bldr. Samson Ameh Opaluwah submitted the bill to Rt. Hon. Mark Gbilla, member representing Gwer East and Gwer West Federal Constituency of Benue State in the Federal House of Representatives.
The chairman was in the company of members of the 7th Council; Bldr. Shehu A. Bustani, FNIOB, Bldr. Kennedy Aimiuwu, FNIOB, Bldr. Hangeior Emmanuel, MNIOB, The Acting Registrar of Council: Bldr. Karshima Aondona Joseph, MNIOB, Assistant Honourary General Secretary of NIOB: Bldr Danjuma Abalaka, FNIOB, Chairman Research and Development Committee of NIOB FCT Chapter: Bldr. Peter Ramson, FNIOB, President of the Association of Professional Women Builders: Bldr. Florence Akinyoade, FNIOB, Chairman NIOB FCT Chapter: Bldr. Peter Omale, MNIOB, Protem Executive Secretary of the Sector Skills Council: Bldr. Bawa Mohammed, FNIOB and other senior Builders.
Rt. Honourable Mark Gbilla upon receipt of the proposed Builders Registration Act Amendment Bill appreciated the Chairman of Council and members of his entourage with a commitment to champion the cause of its amendment by sponsoring it as a private members bill while rallying support from his other colleagues in the national assembly for its smooth passage.
The Chairman of CORBON while reiterating the urgent need to curb the menace of building collapse being experienced nationally also brought to the attention of the Honourable Member and indeed Nigerians the formal launch of CORBON’s Project Evaluation and Monitoring Unit (PEMU) as a vehicle for advocacy, monitoring and enforcement of relevant physical development laws within the States and FCT.
The Honourable member was thereafter decorated with the CORBON regalia as an ambassador of the profession in ensuring professionalism within the built environment.
