The National Institute of Town Planners (NITP) has announced the passing away of one of its founding members, TPL (Chief) Goke Olanlokun Adediran FNITP, AKA “The Last Man Standing”.
According to a statement signed by The National Public Relations Secretary, TPL. Edmund C. Nwokaeze on behalf of the President, TPL. Olutoyin Ayinde, FNITP, the sad event on Friday 2nd September, 2022.
The statement described Pa Adediran (April 1937 – September 2022) as “the last of the first Nine (9) icons that established the Institute, prelude to the Thirty (30) pioneer Town Planners that held the historic meeting in Lagos on 5th September 1966, which led to the formal inauguration of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP). For that reason he was nicknamed “The Last Man Standing”.”
The statement added, “He was the First National Secretary of NITP (1968-1974) and a pillar extra-ordinary whose immense contributions to the advancement of the Town Planning profession is immeasurable.
While commiserating the the entire Goke Adediran Family and the Oyo State chapter of NITP, the National President described Pa Adediran’s demise is a great loss to the Town Planning profession and the built environment.
He added, “There is no doubt that he will be greatly missed by his family, Town Planners, his friends, as well as many other associates across the world.”
