The fact that Elon Musk is the richest person in history has a significant influence in the age of social media.
Musk recently made headlines on his Twitter account, which has 65.4 million followers, by appearing to make fun of the two most recent presidents of the United States as well as numerous members of Congress.
He did it by advocating that candidates for public office should not be older than 70.
“Let’s set an age limit after which you can’t run for Political office, perhaps a number just below 70.”
No specific political leaders were mentioned in the tweet, but both current president Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump are over age 70.
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, another former candidate whom Musk has had a squabble with publicly, is 80 years old.
Last month Sanders tweeted that extremely wealthy Americans should “pay their fair share,” to which Musk responded, “I keep forgetting that you’re still alive.”
Musk also said he is using his resources to help humankind.
“I am accumulating resources to help make life multiplanetary & extend the light of consciousness to the stars,” Musk said on Twitter after Sanders implied that Musk and Jeff Bezos were greedy.
The United States has set an minimum age limit of 35 years for those running for president, but there is no upper age limit currently.
Sanders would have been one of the oldest presidents ever had he been elected.
The average age of House of Representatives members is 57.6 years while the average age of Senators is 62.9 years.
Musk, who was born in Pretoria, South Africa, is 50 years old.
He is the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, and he has plans to sell devices that allow humans to merge with AI technology for the purpose of overcoming disabilities and disease, among other reasons.
