Report has it that a resident of Lekki Phase 1, Eyenkorin, an area in Ilorin, Kwara State, set his own home on fire.
The perpetrator said that he intentionally doused his own three-bedroom apartment with gasoline before setting it ablaze in response to his wife’s annoyance.
According to Hassan Adekunle, spokesman for the Kwara State Fire Service, the incident occurred on Sunday at 10.28am.
He claimed that the Fire Service was alerted about the situation by a neighbor of the troubled man named Mr. Kola.
Adekunle claimed that the firefighters were able to put out the roaring blaze quickly and prevented it from spreading to adjacent structures.
“A man that resides at Lekki Phase One Eyenkorin area in Ilorin, Kwara State on 3rd July, 2022 deliberately set his own house on fire. This terrible incident occurred this morning at about 10:28hrs, and one Mr. Kola leaving in the neighborhood was the one who quickly summoned the brigade to the scene of the fire outbreak.
“According to the report, the man said he deliberately sprayed his own three bedrooms flat with petrol and then set it on fire due to his wife high frustration,” Adekunle stated.
