The Family Homes Funds (FHF), the largest housing fund in Sub-Saharan Africa with a focus on low-cost homes for Nigerians, was established in 2017 and began operations in 2018.
The Federal Ministry of Finance and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority initially held shares in this social housing initiative, which is promoted by the Federal Government of Nigeria as part of its Social Intervention Programme.
The company plans to invest up to N1.3 trillion (US$3 billion) over the next four years in the construction of 500,000 low-income homes. Through its innovative products, the Company also hopes to facilitate homeownership and up to 1,500,000 jobs during this process.
The goal of the Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) is to build high-quality homes, offer home ownership financing options, and generate employment in order to use housing to raise the living standards of low-income Nigerians.
FHF seeks to have an impact on people’s lives and the nation, ensuring that its products and solutions meet their interests and needs by keeping its target beneficiaries at the center of everything it does. Conscious of the scope of its mandate, FHF constantly and actively looks for holistic and creative social housing solutions that will guarantee low-income families have decent housing and that decent jobs are created.
Also, FHF constantly seeks to have the right systems in place to support its ability to make money. This entails actively raising money, using it effectively, and putting in place strong financial controls that establish FHFL as a morally upright company. This places FHF in a position where it can partner with financiers and encourage the approval of funding requests.
FHF strongly believes in forging partnerships with companies whose experience, expertise, resources, and capacity complement its own.
As one of the key partners of AIHS and a major stakeholder in the housing sector, FHF will be participating in the AIHS’ CEOs forum to deliberate on salient issues affecting the nation’s housing sector as well as share its affordable housing delivery plans with Nigerians, who are the direct beneficiaries of its products and services.
