At least 1,326 households have been displaced, with 463 homes destroyed by windstorm in three local government areas of Cross River State.
The effect of the windstorm, which happened in Yala, Obudu, and Ogoja, all in the Northern Senatorial District of the state, affecting 14 localities, affected 1,326 households.
On Monday, council officials and youths from the villages led Mr Godwin Tepikor, Zonal Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South South, and his staff around the affected districts.
The crew visited the impacted communities of Bewbone, Abonkib, Bebuagbong, Igwo, and Okworutung while in the Obudu local government.
According to Tepikor, the inspection tour was prompted by a’save our soul’ complaint from Mr Boniface Eraye, Chairman of Obudu Council Area, following a windy occurrence on April 12, 2022.
In the Obudu local government district, the disaster affected 503 homes and damaged 249 buildings and other household property.
