The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has disclosed that a total of 6,022 houses are under construction nationwide under the National Housing Programme (NHP) scheme.
Fashola, who made a presentation at the launch of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration Scorecard 2015 -2023, which is being organized by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, also disclosed that 2,864 out of the units had been completed in 35 states and in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The scorecard is a series of programmes showcasing the achievements of the administration since its inception until date.
The minister also noted that Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has a total of 2,382 housing units under construction from January 2022 till date.
Fashola said, “National Housing Programme that was initiated by the Ministry of Works and Housing at the onset of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration had affordability and accessibility as key considerations.
“Under the National Housing Programme, the Federal Government is undertaking a total of 6,022 housing units in 46 sites across the country. In 35 states, including the FCT, 2,864 housing units had been completed. In all, 1,245 building contractors were engaged for the project.
”Also, the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has a total of 2,382 housing units under construction from January 2022 till date. Out of this number, a total of 1,462 housing units have so far been delivered in 7 sites across the nation.
“While providing these houses, and the construction process associated with it, jobs in the construction value chain translating into 46,4202 number of employments for Nigerians were created.”
